Paris Roubaix 2024

Wow once again! MVDP quite simply outclassed the field at Paris Roubaix 2024.

The immediate lead up to the famous classic was somewhat marred by the big crash at Itzulia Basque Country 2024, where so many of the big GC riders for the grand tours crashed out (and thankfully) didn’t appear to suffer major injuries.

Here, once again, Van der Poel was as imperious as ever. The race came to life at the Arenberg, the lead in to which fortunately wasn’t adversely impacted by the new chicane at the entry. The only real threat, Mads Pedersen, led across the pavé, but then MVDP stamped his authority.

With 60km remaining, he made the race winning break – he simply rode away from the contenders and that was it.

Oh, and not to mention it was all done in the fastest time ever. Even with the brutality of the Hell of the North, the world champ did it with an 47.8km/h average speed. Take that in for a moment. Just shy of 5 and a half hours to cover 260km at almost 48km/h. We mortals can only dream! Chapeau Mathieu!
